Welcome to Amavi Beauty Care

About

My name is Tammi Boyd, I am the founder and CEO of Amavi Beauty Care, thank you for visiting and welcome to our site.

My story has begun when I was just a little girl. I have always dreamed about doing hair, becoming a hairstylist, and someday owning my own salon. My grandma used to take care of me during the day while my parents were at work, and she would allow me to play with her hair. As I got a little older, like 9 or 10, she would let me put sponge rollers in her hair. Before you know it, I was trimming her hair and giving her perms. “It really didn’t come out half bad, she would say, I learned to style it and she even left the house with out a hat on.

Once I got into high school, I could have taken cosmetology and I was very excited about it, except the fact that when I mentioned this to my family and some friends, they didn’t think it was the best idea. They mentioned that I would not make much money, I would not have health insurance, and I was not going to get anywhere doing hair. So, I chose not to move forward in the hair industry, so I finished high school and went out into the real world to look for a job, which was not easy. College was not an option for me at the time, but I got a job and continued to move forward to better myself with better job positions, and a decent salary. I worked in the corporate world, behind a desk and behind a computer screen for 8 hours a day, I hated it. Yes, salary was great but not loving what I did was not great.

When I was 34 years old, I was working full time, and I had a family, my husband and my three wonderful kids. I decided and was fortunate enough to go back to school for cosmetology, part time, which consisted of 4 nights a week for 18 months. Without my family and friends to help me along the way I would not have been able to move forward. With that being said, I did the best that I could and became captain of my team in school, and I had perfect attendance. I finally graduated and was super excited that I now had my cosmetology license. I left my full-time job and during the next few years I took the opportunity to work with many wonderful stylists where I expanded my knowledge and ability. But this still was not enough for me, I still wanted my own salon, and so that’s what I did. Together my husband and I built a salon from the ground up. I opened my doors with three clients, not including family and friends, I went weeks upon weeks with no one. I kept spreading the word and social media and before you know it 6 years later I had about 130 clients. I always strive to deliver the highest level of satisfaction to my clients; each client has a vision of how they want their hair and skin to look and feel, and when they are happy with my work it means the world to me.

I’ve met many amazing people along with way, but without the support of my husband, my kids, my parents, my in-laws, my aunt, and most of all my clients, without them sharing their stories about me and my salon I would not be where I am today. As we all know 2020 was not the best for everyone due to COVID. It tore too many businesses down and a lot of people lost their jobs, and their livelihoods, and the world came to a halt. My salon was no different, I stayed positive and had faith we would return to normal, so I decided to remodel my salon, my thoughts were that when it is time to re-open, I’m going to do better and expand to have move clients.  That is exactly what happened, the day that I could re-open my doors my appointment book filled fast, it was the best feeling anyone could ever have. It was more of a relief than anything. I continued to succeed and kept moving forward, but again, this was not enough for me. I still wanted to help my clients feel even better about their hair and skin. I loved everything about being a stylist, but when clients asked me about which products I recommend, I found it difficult to answer with any confidence. My clients want products that prove to be beneficial, do not contain dangerous or abrasive chemicals, and leave your hair and skin feeling and looking healthy. I tried to give the best advice possible by recommending natural healthy products, but that seemed near impossible. So, in my effort to deliver the highest level of satisfaction, I started looking into having my own hair and skincare line.

In the meantime, August of 2021 we had decided to move to Florida for better opportunities. So, I put everything on hold and had to close my doors to the salon. I cried my eyes out, I literally had blood, sweat, and tears into what I had built. Knowing that I am not going to see my clients anymore, and having my clients offer to fly me to New York every 6 weeks so I could continue doing what I love was something that I would never forget and the feeling of that was unexplainable. I don’t currently own my own salon although I have continued to do hair, which I love to do, but I have now officially started my very own hair and skincare line!

This is how Amavi Beauty Care was born, we started with a few simple daily and weekly products to get you started, but we are not stopping, our next products are already being formulated now.

Go ahead…fall in love!
